Helpers of Pittsburgh

February 24, 2024

Dear Friends,

As the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine approaches, we at DTCare and UCHI would like to bring everyone together to celebrate the resiliency of the Ukrainian people and the countless "helpers" here in Pittsburgh who continue to offer support and relief. Inspired by the beloved Fred Rogers quote, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping," we are hosting an event that we are calling “Helpers of Pittsburgh: Celebrating Ukrainian Resilience and Culture” - an indoor street fair dedicated to uniting our community in a common cause.

Mark your calendars! We invite you to participate in this exciting event on February 24th, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, at the Carnegie Boro Building. This "indoor street fair" style event aims to:

  • Highlight the remarkable resilience of Ukraine and the ongoing efforts of Pittsburgh's "helpers."
  • Connect local organizations actively supporting Ukrainians both in Pittsburgh and in-country.
  • Share the diversity of Ukrainian culture with the community at large.
  • Offer opportunities for community engagement and support, welcoming those who wish to get involved but haven't yet found a way.

To do this, we humbly ask for your help and participation. We envision a vibrant tapestry of contributions from dedicated partners like yourself. We invite you to consider participating in these ways:

  • Share your story: Set up a table showcasing your organization's work in support of Ukraine.
  • Inspire through creativity: Contribute music, video exhibits, or artwork that reflects the Ukrainian spirit.
  • Provide food and beverages: Sell delicious food that celebrates diverse cultures.
  • Entertain and engage: Offer interactive activities, crafts, or performances that bring joy and connection.
  • Speak from the heart: Share your experiences or insights as a speaker at the event.

This is a chance to connect with fellow "helpers," showcase your work, and inspire the Pittsburgh community to stand in solidarity with Ukraine. Whether you're an established organization or a passionate individual, your voice and presence matter. Together, we can weave a powerful narrative of hope, resilience, and solidarity.

We deeply value your organization's contributions to the Ukrainian cause. Please RSVP by Friday, February 2, 2024, by completing this Registration Form and let us know how you'd like to participate. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to kara.walsh@dtcare.org. Also, share this invitation with your networks and encourage other "helpers" to join us! The more the merrier, and the greater impact we can make together.
