Third Benefit Concert for Ukraine

December 10, 2023

Third Benefit Concert for Ukraine, Sunday, December 10, 2023

We are embarking on the Third Benefit Concert for Ukraine which will be held on Sunday December 10, 2023, at Park Presbyterian Church, 275 Commerce Street, Beaver, PA 15009.  Approximately $35,000.00 has been sent to Nova Ukraine as a result of the first two concerts.  The musicians have donated their time and talents and thanks to special donations by anonymous donors all the proceeds will go to two charities - 80% of the proceeds will be sent to Nova Ukraine (novaukraine.org) and 20 % will be sent to DTCare (dtcare).  For information about these two wonderful charities please see the website dtcare.org/ukraine-benefit.

Attached below are flyers that you can send out to your friends and family.  Please help us reach as many people as possible. This concert will again feature the best musicians in the world, musicians from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the University of Pittsburgh.

We asked our musicians what playing in these concerts means to them. Some of their comments are:

Victoria Luperi, (Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Associate-Principal Clarinet and Principal E-flat Clarinet) has performed in each of the first two Benefit Concerts for Ukraine.  Victoria, in reflecting on these Benefit Concerts for Ukraine, said “I would like to start by saying we would rather not have a reason to put together this Benefit Concert. We wish by now this war had ended and that people would not be suffering the consequence of the invasion. We are organizing this benefit in the spirit of solidarity and the commitment we feel to help those who are suffering. This is the underlying driving force which inspires us to come together and put together this event. We have dedicated our lives to performing music, which has the power to move people from many walks of life, and it is meaningful to us to be able to give back to the community.  Anyone attending our concert can expect an afternoon filled with music played straight from the heart, with the intention to connect with yours and inspire you to join us in this effort to support the people of Ukraine. “

David McCarroll (Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Concertmaster) shared his thoughts, “This is very personal for me and my family.  We know many Ukrainian musicians with family living in Ukraine and saw firsthand the influx of refugees, mostly women and children, pouring into Germany and other European countries when we were living in Berlin before moving to Pittsburgh.  Even if I did not know a single Ukrainian person, this would be a cause I would full-heartedly support. The length and scope of the aggression against Ukraine deserves our continued attention and support…”

Please send your check made payable to DTCare with Ukraine Benefit in the Memo, to:

Cheryl Redmond, 316 Beaver St. #304, Sewickley, PA 15143.

Credit Card payments will be available soon.  Please check back to the website:  dtcare.org/ukraine-benefit
