Hello All,

Forsythe Mini Golf and Candy/Ice Cream Stand opens on Friday, April 26th.

Carlynton kindergarten registration is currently open. The District is asking that parents/guardians register their child by May 1, 2023 to ensure families receive all kindergarten communications. Contact the school for more information or go to: https://www.carlynton.k12.pa.us/our_district/news/what_s_new/kindergarten_registration.

Saturday, April 6th, from 9 to 11 AM, Free Glass Recycling Event at the Carnegie Borough Building Parking Lot.

Saturday, April 6th, 10 AM to 2 PM, Stuffed Cabbage Sale, at Ss. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 220 Mansfield Ave.; to go only, no dine in (cooked but selling cold).

Saturday, April 6th, at 7:30 PM, Saturday Soirées: An Evening of Jazz with Tania & Jeff Grubbs, at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall (ACFL&MH). Join the Library for their new Saturday Soirées series. These quarterly performances transform their Studio space into an intimate jazz club. Your ticket includes food, drink, and memorable music while benefiting the ACFL&MH. Tickets are $52. Monday, April 8th, at 2 to 4:30 PM, Solar Eclipse Watch Party, at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall (ACFL&MH) – viewing glasses will be provided while supplies last.

Thursday, April 11th, from 5 to 7 PM, High School Student Ceramics Exhibition Award Reception, at the Clay Place (Standard Ceramics), One Walnut St. Local high school artists exhibit their ceramic pieces at the Clay Place. The exhibition will be open from April 4th to May 1st from 10am to 3pm.

Thursday, April 11th, from 5:30 to 7 PM, Landlord - Tenant Workshop, at the Crafton Borough Building, Community Room, 100 Stotz Ave.. Learn about your rights and responsibilities as a tenant or landlord’s. For more info go to: https://carnegiecarnegie.org/.

April 11th, 12th and April 13th, at 7 PM and April 14th, at 2 PM, Carlynton High School’s Musical – The Addams Family: School Edition, at the Jr/Sr High School Auditorium. This lovable but wacky family comes to life on stage. Saturday, April 13th, 9 AM to Noon, Spring Clean-up, - Join your friends and neighbors in cleaning out the planters and picking up garbage to make our community beautiful; meet at Carnegie Borough Building to obtain bags, gloves, and vests.

April 19, 20, 26, 27 at 8 PM & 21, 28 at 2 PM, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, a Stage 62 production at the ACFL&MH. This smash hit takes you into the lives of everyone’s favorite Peanut characters. Saturday, April 20th, 11 AM to 3 PM, Earth Day Celebration, at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall (ACFL&MH) – RAIN OR SHINE. Join the Library for a day of all-ages fun. Explore nature and ecology with many special guests. Learn about succulents and native plants, meet some helpful composting worms, check out seeds from our seed library, and enjoy crafts, games, and family activities. Plus, don’t miss a fascinating talk at 1:00 PM from Brian Charlton of the Donora Smog Museum about the toxic 1948 industrial smog that killed twenty people in Donora and sickened thousands more. Saturday, April 20th, 11 AM to 3 PM, Carnegie/Collier Rotary Food Drive, for the Salvation Army Food Bank at the ACFL&MH. Please consider donating non-perishable food to assist with local families experiencing food insecurity.

Friday, April 26th, Forsythe Mini Golf and Candy/Ice Cream Stand Opens…Yeah, warm weather is around the corner!!!

Saturday, April 27th at 8 AM, Annual Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department 5K Run/Walk, - registration is now being accepted; cost is $25 (if you pay by 4/08 it’s $20).  Come enjoy this fun community event. The course is flat and fast - enjoyable for both runners and walkers of all ages (even dogs). Prizes for overall male and female winners and the top three male and female finishers in eight age categories.  All proceeds benefit the Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department.  For more information or a registration form go to www.carnegieborough.com or contact Carnegie Borough at (412) 276-1414. You can also register on the day of the race beginning at 7 AM.

Monday, April 29th, at 6 to 8:30 PM, Taste of Carlynton, at Chartiers Country Club; a tasty fundraiser for the Carlynton Education Foundation. Thursday, May 2nd, 7 PM, Listen Locally with Maureen Renihan, at the ACFL&MH. Maureen Renihan connects with audiences of all ages with her honesty through song. Evoking the charm of a bygone era, she is influenced by some of the greatest female vocalists: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughan. Friday, May 10th, 5 to 9 PM The Carnegie Crawl returns to downtown Carnegie every 2nd Friday through October; businesses in downtown Carnegie will be offering fun, food trucks, live music with Bon Journey and discounts during the hours of the Crawl. Come join the fun!

JFCS - Free Immigrant Workforce Program

We are thrilled to let you know that our Immigrant Workforce Program (IWP) flyer is attached. The winter cohort is from January 17th through March 7th 2024. It is an eight weeks virtual program occurring on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m to 12:30 p.m.

We wanted to extend our sincere appreciation for your invaluable support in recruiting participants to this program. Your dedication and efforts have played an important role in helping us reach the numbers we aimed for. Teamwork truly makes the dream work, and your collaboration has been instrumental in making the IWP a reality.
